Compartment
On this night train you can choose from three types of compartments.
Seats are the cheapest option. You spend the night while seated, in an adjustable chair that reclines 45 degrees, with individual arm and foot rests. The seats are not in a separate compartment but rather in a large, open car where there are dozens of other seats, as on a regular train. Toilets are located in the corridor.
The 2nd class couchettes are compartments for 6 people and offer more comfort than seats. The benches you sit on during the day are transformed into individual sleeping berths at night. For each passenger SNCF provides a light sleeping bag, a pillow, a bottle of water and a travel kit with wet wipes, socks and earplugs. Men and women travel mixed, except in the women-only compartment. Toilets and washing facilities are located in the corridor. You can also book the entire compartment privately so you don't have to share it with other travelers.
The 1st class couchettes are compartments for 4 people that are slightly more spacious than in second class. Upon arrival in the morning, travellers in first class couchettes have free access to the shower facilities in the stations of Paris Gare d' Austerlitz and Toulouse-Matabiau.
All compartments can be locked from the inside and have amenities such as adjustable air conditioning, reading lights and power outlets.
